Sky Waves

It began as turbulance in a bay of brilliant blue.

Roiling sea twisted and curled
until full waves of white
Rolled without breaking,
One after another,
after another.

Forces unseen, but felt,
pulled, pushed and wrenched.
Each drop of water was set against its neighbor.

Torrential onslaught in atmospheric proportion
caused wave after wave
to crash soundlessly
upon an unseen shore.

Like tracks from a whirling dervish
clouds swirled across the sky.

Vaporous dancers
twisted and twirled,
churning the sky into curls
stacked across the horizon.

Below, I watched in awe as the storm raged overhead.
I stood still.
My hair rustled from a slight breeze.
My skin, dry, felt not a splash .
