Two days ago, I showed you what is happening in my garden - buds are popping! If you missed it, click HERE. Today I will take you back in time.
Remember that Spirea that was ready to bloom? Well, here is what it looked like last week.
The Rhododendren is well ensconced.
An iced down Christmas tree didn't seem to bother this Red-bellied woodpecker. (Melanerpes carolinus)
It may have been harder had he tried to perch on the fence wire.
Our local family of White-tailed deer crunch away at their icy lunch.

Much the same here Nellie, Brrrrr....stay warm.
i'm thinking winter's far from over. :)
I hope not to see that here, we are having eain turning to major snow.
Oh, ice is so scary. Beautiful photos, though.
I loved your post from a year ago, what a wonderful poem! You are so talented.
Beautiful photos as always. I love the one with the deer. Maine is cold and sunny today. Waiting for spring, waiting for spring! Your squirrel photos are great. We have high wire walking squirrels that mastered the skill to reach hanging feeders. No way to outsmart those guys. Thanks Nellie for visiting my site. Blessings!
Still dodging the ice and/or snow here in the Ozarks, much different from most years. It's getting to the point where much damage will result if the full force of winter ever does arrive.
Mild weather in Feb. is not good. Hope you don't lose too much. Boom & gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
This is very different from your Wednesday post. What a strange year it has been.
Here in northern California my apricot trees are showing color. I am much more likely to avoid a freeze than are you, though. We need some drenching rain, and that could keep the bees away from pollinating the crop. We need the rain so I wouldn't be too upset.
Hi Nellie - I love these photos with the ice and the woodpecker is just a great shot! Thank you for sharing your photography and also thanks for stopping by John's Island. I would be honored to have you share any of my pics with your cousin and please extend an invitation to view the blog as well. Your kind comments are always appreciated. I will look forward to your next post. John
I don't especially like ice, but it sure makes everything new again.
