Sunflowers peak around walnut rails of my garden fence searching for those first morning rays delivered by their namesake ball of fire. Many friends have come to join the colorful display. Today will be a good day.
Naked Ladies (Lycoris squamigera) step forward out of the weeds to surprise a determined clump of Black-eyed susan (Rudbeckia hirta)
A virgin Crepe myrtle (Lagerstroemia) joins them, dressed in pink for her "coming-out" party. The others nod their approval.
While, just behind, a once standard white hydrangea (H. Paniculata)  reigns in her current wildness to give the young pink beauty her turn in the spotlight.
And so, the garden party begins.

Lovely photos every one, but the first one of the cheerful yellow flowers peeking shyly from behind the fence for a peek at the sun has completely captured my heart. :-)

Now this is a party I would really enjoy. The crepe myrtle is gorgeous. The lycoris always startles me, one day there is nothing there and the next, boing, they just spring out of the ground. Such a pretty garden!

Thanks for your visit, I do love the Blackberry Lily. I am going to place seeds all along a ditch and hope they grow wild.

So that's what's going on... I wondered. We see a lot of small, pink Lagerstroemia bushes blooming in the woods, far from houses. I assumed that they had just been spread from bushes planted at old, now abandoned, homes. But now I know, they're out there for a party. :-)

nellie girl I wasn't sure if I had left a comment or not .. because I am still laughing about the clouds and the rude gesture !!! LOL
My god girl .. I truly did NOT see that until you "pointed" it out .. too funny!
Calling this time in the season a garden party is perfect .. I just had to cut the flowers from Little Lamb hydrangea because they were so heavy and bent over .. I'll have to make sure supports are in place a lot sooner for next year .. I am drying them along with lavender wands .. I love the smell : )
Joy (still giggling)
