A Daylily bloom means that summer has truly arrived.
Their stellar display started last week in my garden
It is a show that reminds me of fireworks,
. . . explosive,
. . . thrilling
and fleeting.
Color radiates from each sun-saturated center,
and lies delicately along curved petals
disappearing into dark shadows
. . . that accentuate the brightness even more.
Like we view fireworks,
. . . we must look quickly
. . . so as not to miss a single explosive bloom
. . . that last but a moment
. . . and is then gone, forever.

what a great post. lovely images but even better analogy. pure poetry.
Your photos are incredible!!! I'm wow'd by your blog. Also wanted to let you know I read your two posts below, and in picture # 2 of the dark movement in the weeds - I thought I was seeing a BEAR! I'm glad it was 'only' a skunk.
Glad I visited today!
Beth
their stellar performance is certainly enhanced even more by your stellar performance with your camera. stunning photos
Gorgeous daylilies and your photography is superb! :)
Oh, how true! Daylily season is just like fireworks; they come on so quickly and wow us and then dwindle away. We have to pull up a lawn chair and ooh and ahh while we can, and your post certainly did capture the moment for us!
I love your fireworks analogy, and between the two I'll choose your brilliant, gorgeous Daylilies every time! Beautiful photos!
You do have a lovely variety!
I don't have as many and they seem to be fading quicker than I remember. :)
Thanks for your visit. I have my granddaughters with me so my blogging break isn't quite over. :)
Fireworks indeed! Your explosion of color makes me appreciate the hot, summer days. These photos are truly beautiful.
Hi Nellie, our daylilies have nearly all gone, although I do have some photos to remember them. Yours are gorgeous and beautifully photographed and the words go well with the imagery. Thanks for sharing the beauty around.
Wow. These shots are amazing. Absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks for stopping by, come back any time.
Lovely, lovely, lovely!
Oh my goodness, you have so many beautiful colors of day lilies. Great macro shots, I love the flower in the second one.
I love this post! You are right about the fireworks comparison. It seems like many of the daylilies start blooming around the Fourth, too. Some of mine are now finished, and I am feeling sad about that.
You sure have some beauties!
I really need to get some more day lilies...they are gorgeous....
