The Kingfisher

Last week I told you that I had been trying to catch a photo of a Belted kingfisher  that I had seen on the river road when, instead, I was treated to views of a Great blue heron. (Click Here.) Well, yesterday it was the kingfisher's turn to wow me.
This one very kindly perched upon a wire while I several photos.
I think that he (she?) looks like a cool "cat" from the fifties.
He has worked all morning with plenty of grease to get his hair to look just right.
It even turned around so that I could catch his good side.
Look well, because this can't last.
Then, yes, he has had enough.
No more photos for me.
I smile and quietly murmur, "Good-Day, and thank you for your time."

Great catch, Nellie! What a long beak he has! I have had trouble getting a shot of this bird in the past, lucky you!!

Great shots! I saw a bunch of these when I worked on Middle Bass Island two summers ago. They always seemed to have a shad in their beaks whenever they had a chance.

The only time I have even seen a kingfisher was when I was at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refust, which is about a 45-minute drive from our VA eastern shore home.
