Red-Breasted Nuthatch

Meet the Red-Breasted Nuthatch . . .
. . . sitta canadensis.
He quickly shows off his black cap and eye stripe.
The blush of his belly bears witness to his breeding.
There's a quick turn and our short-tailed friend grabs a single sunflower seed
And parts our company
just as his larger, white-breasted cousin, sitta carolinensis, comes in for a landing.
I'm thankful that, today, there are enough seeds for the whole family
as well as their friends and neighbors.

Hello Nellie,
Thank you for visiting my blog.. it's certainly been my pleasure to visit yours! I've enjoyed your beautiful photos and reading about your birds. We have a couple of birdfeeders - just outside my kitchen window - and I really enjoy watching them while I'm cooking.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your painting partner.

Hugs,
Teresa

The little nuthatch makes me think of someone taking a stroll down the sidewalk. Lokking at birds from a winsow is a lovely passtime. It is one of my favourite things to do. I enjoyed your nuthatch pictures.
