Courage at the Pool

Each of us sits on our chosen rock

deep in the shade 

beside the spring

that drips consistently into a pool;

calming us both with its sound.

We watch in stillness.

I admire the chipmunk's courage

as well as its beauty.

I think, "Just what does it see in me?"
